Surviving SVW Cars

SVW historian, Gary Perry, has delved through the SVW Register records to report how many SVW cars still survive.

9.6% of SAs, 14.2% of VAs and 13.6% of WAs
still survive today.

A breakdown of numbers are shown in the tables below.

Note:

  • Saloon bodies were all made by Morris Bodies and fitted at the MG factory.
  • Drop Head Coupe (DHC) bodies were made and fitted by Salmons & Sons of Newport Pagnell. The running chassis, bonnet and front wings were supplied by MG to Salmons. It then usually took a minimum of 6 weeks for the car to be completed.
  • Tourers – SA and WA Tourers were bodied in a similar fashion by Charlesworth of Coventry. VA Tourers were built at the MG factory with a body supplied by Morris Bodies.
